Tattoo After Care from,
Inkredible Tattoo Studio
While we guarantee top-notch tattoos crafted to perfection, we believe that you also have a significant role to play in caring for your tattoo. A major part of the healing process occurs within the first two weeks of getting a tattoo, and adhering to the following practices can help your tattoo heal perfectly.
Tattoo aftercare is the regimen you need to follow as soon as you get your tattoo. From my experience, aftercare protocols can vary from country to country and city to city. They can also depend on the local climate, current weather conditions, humidity, and temperature. Your tattoo artist knows best, so it’s crucial to listen to them carefully when they explain the aftercare process. If there’s something you don’t understand, don’t hesitate to ask. Ensure you grasp all the instructions thoroughly.

Important points to remember before and after getting a tattoo?
Before Getting a Tattoo:
- Alcohol and Drugs: Avoid alcohol at least a day before getting tattooed and refrain from using recreational drugs before or after the session.
- Stay Hydrated: Hydrate well before your tattoo session; this helps in managing pain better.
- Eat Healthily: Consume a good, healthy meal before the session. Ensure your stomach is full, but avoid foods that might cause discomfort later.
- Juices and Snacks: If your tattoo session is expected to last longer than 4 hours, keep drinking juices and water. Have snacks at regular intervals.
- Managing Pain: You’ll experience significantly less pain if you’re well-hydrated and well-fed.
- Health Concerns: If you have any medical conditions, consult with your doctor before getting inked.
- Healing Duration: While the tattoo might appear healed within the first two weeks, it takes approximately 90 days to heal completely from the inside out.
- White Patches: Your tattoo might develop transparent white patches within the first week of healing. Consider this akin to fresh, baby skin; it’s still in the healing process.
- Color Fading: A tattoo will never look as vibrant as it did on day one. Expect about 20% color fade once fully healed. This is because, during the healing process, only the third skin layer retains the ink while the others rejuvenate. The newer layers aren’t entirely transparent, which accounts for the color difference between a fresh and a healed tattoo.
Cleansing
After the tattooing session, our artists will wrap your tattoo to prevent dust or other particles from touching the raw skin. You can remove this wrap after 2 hours and clean the area with lukewarm water. Pat it dry with a clean cotton cloth or a tissue. We recommend you start applying the tattoo protector cream immediately—it facilitates the tattoo’s healing and helps maintain its appearance.
Protector Cream Application
The protector cream is crucial to the healing process. From the second day after getting your tattoo, apply the cream 3-4 times daily. Ensure you coat your tattoo with the cream before and after bathing; it acts as a water-resistant layer and provides essential moisture to your skin.
Oozing of the Ink
Oozing ink marks the first stage of your healing process. Within a day or two of getting your tattoo, you might notice some ink oozing out. Don’t worry! This is a positive sign that your tattooed skin is healing.
Scabbing
After the ink stops oozing, your skin may feel dry and start to peel. Scabbing is normal, so don’t be alarmed. However, don’t pick or peel off the scabs. Doing so can cause the tattoo to fade unevenly. Let the dry skin fall off naturally.
Cartridges
We use Cheyenne & FYT cartridges imported from the USA and Germany. These tattoo cartridge needles are fully sterilized and are disposed of after every session. Our cartridge needle system is automated; the needle penetrates only the second layer of your skin, causing less pain than other systems and allowing your tattoo to heal faster.
Itching
Itching is the final stage of your tattoo’s healing process. As your skin dries and peels, it will begin to itch. This is normal and indicates proper healing. However, don’t scratch the tattooed area. Instead, gently pat it to alleviate the itch.
Post Healing
Once all the dry skin has fallen off, you might notice a thin, shiny layer on your tattoo, which can make it appear slightly dull. This is just your new skin. We recommend applying the protector cream daily after two weeks of getting your tattoo. By the end of the third week, you’ll see a significant difference as your tattoo becomes clearer each day. For a glossy effect, apply the tattoo protector cream daily, keeping your tattoo looking fresh and vibrant.
Remember, tattoos are a lifelong commitment, so always be well-prepared and informed before and after the process!
